Ghanaian actress Ebi Bright, who was just elected as Tema Central's Member of Parliament, has revealed something unexpected about her political career.

Ebi, a career diplomat, said that she was rightfully fired more than once during campaigns because of her political preferences.

Ebi recently stated in an interview that she was made fun of and told that politics wasn't for her because she was from a "Cantata" background.

Politics, I was informed bluntly, is not for 'cantata' people like myself. One man said, "Does this girl think politics is the Cantata she acts?" I recall him saying that. This is how marginalization occurs, and I'm confident that my victory will inspire a lot of creatives.

"I want to put aside partisanship and have a good plan that works for the people of Tema Central," she declared.

After a protracted battle, actress Ebi Bright finally won the Tema Central seat on her third try using the NDC ticket since 2016.

Despite not being on the NDC ticket at the time, she said she was happy to have sparked her colleagues' interest in politics when she made her maiden bid to enter Parliament in 2012.

The victory meant a lot to Ebi Bright, a Development Communicator and Career Diplomat, especially since she secured a seat that was thought to be safe for the ruling NPP.

When it comes to pursuing my passions, I see no obstacles. Because of this, I have overcome every obstacle in this election. Although Tema Central was thought to be a fairly secure seat for the NPP, this is not the case now. She said, "I'm thrilled to be a part of our next Parliament."
