A tragic fire incident in Gyinyase, a suburb of Kumasi in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, has left the community in deep sorrow.
The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Saturday, February 8, 2025, claimed the lives of a nurse and her three children.
The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Linda Agyemang, who worked at Kumasi South Government Hospital.
She and her children were sleeping in their three-bedroom home when the fire started.
Unfortunately, they were unable to escape before the flames engulfed the house.
Neighbors who noticed the fire made frantic efforts to rescue the victims.
A witness, Kwabena Mensah, recounted how he and his brother tried to reach the family but were forced back by the intensity of the flames.
Despite their desperate attempts, they could not enter the house before the fire spread further.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire.
However, when they entered the house, they found the lifeless bodies of Linda and her children in the bathroom.
It is believed they sought shelter there, hoping to escape the flames.
Three other individuals who were in the house at the time were rescued and rushed to Kumasi South Hospital for treatment. Their condition remains undisclosed.
Authorities have transferred the bodies of Linda and her children to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Fire officers and law enforcement agencies are expected to release their findings soon.
