Representative Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa of North Tongu
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu, has expressed his disapproval of what he calls a suspicious midnight contract that was accepted by the Agricultural Development Bank's (ADB) board.
The MP claims that political pressure has been applied to ensure timely payment for the electronic servicing agreement deal, which has not undergone crucial procedures including auditing and negotiations.
Memoranda that have been intercepted continue to reveal the careless and disloyal actions of Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government officials who awarded dubious midnight contracts and demanded full payments by January 7, 2025. The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) Board has rushedly accepted a contentious electronic servicing arrangement worth US$750,000.00 (GHS12 million) during its meeting three days ago.
"I have deep insider information at ADB that they are under tremendous political pressure to make the complete payment by tomorrow, December 27, 2024. In addition to the deal not passing the audit department, negotiations with the vendor, Virtual Security Africa, have not yet been completed, especially since the main agreement is still in draft form," the MP wrote on social media on Thursday, December 26, 2024, expressing shock at the Board's decision.
Although the Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a strong caution against such actions, he pointed out that there appears to be a frenzied rush for contracts under the outgoing government.
"I have intercepted several such memos pushing through last-minute deals," revealed the chair of the president-elect's Operation Recover All Loot. He cautioned public servants against succumbing to political pressure or facing consequences once the National Democratic Congress (NDC) takes office on January 7, 2025.
In spite of the President-elect's Transition Team's explicit warning, which is in line with what the NPP wanted in 2016, the frantic rush for midnight contracts and payments has escalated to unmanageable proportions.
"Fortunately, we have intercepted a considerable number of these internal memos on these dubious transactions and the public officials who succumb to unlawful political pressure and effect payments will have themselves to blame after January 7, 2025," the politician stated.
After the NDC won the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, it expressed alarm about what it claims are last-minute contracts, promotions, and hirings made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's departing administration.
Intercepted memos continue to expose reckless and unpatriotic officials of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government for awarding sleazy midnight contracts and insisting on full payments before January 7, 2025.
