After the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the 2024 General Elections, several called for the party to be "taken back." William Yamoah, the party's director of finance and administration, has answered.

Following remarks made by NPP stalwart and former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, who urged cautious planning as the party contemplates adjustments in the wake of its electoral defeat, this statement was made.

Agyarko warned against the over-concentration of power within the party in his "taking the party back" statement, pointing out that similar reforms in 2009 resulted in a single person gaining domination.

In response, William Yamoah of Adom FM appealed for everyone to be on the same page.

"There is no private property that can be taken home at any time; the party is for all of us." How can you possibly defend the claim that the party is someone's private property?

"Instead, anyone who has fresh ideas and thinks they can reenergize the party's strength is very welcome," he continued.

"Now is not the time for internal disputes," William Yamoah said in response to calls from certain members to fire or force the party leadership to leave.

"The party leadership cannot be asked to resign. Even though this is not the party's first election defeat, none of the leadership quit or was fired. There is no need to assign blame at this time because it is not a scandal in which heads should be turned.

He then on, "But given the work we put into the campaign and the programs we implemented, I must say that our loss in the most recent general elections of 2024 is a devastating disappointment. We shouldn't blame ourselves, though.
