Ghanaian musician Ayigbe Edem has revealed the massive career setback he suffered following a motor accident in December 2023, which led to the cancellation of all his booked shows.

Speaking with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Edem shared how the accident, which occurred on December 10, 2023, significantly affected him both financially and emotionally.

"This event happened on the 10th of December, 2023, and every promoter canceled our show. Like, the team will get a call, 'Oh, bro, we won’t push the date.' You know, because they didn’t know what was happening," he disclosed.

Beyond the cancellations, Edem revealed that he was caught up in legal battles for months, which kept him out of the public eye.

"What the whole world didn’t know was that from December 10, 2023, we were in court till February of this year. Yeah, we were in court about the accident. And so it was in February that the court came back with advice and cleared us from the case," he explained.

Despite the challenges, the rapper commended his team for handling the crisis professionally and ensuring that all legal obligations were met.

"And I think my team did a really, really good job managing the situation. We also wanted to make sure we did due diligence—going to the accident site, assisting the police with investigations, taking necessary measurements, and reporting to court diligently for over two years," he stated.

Edem also reflected on the emotional and financial toll of the incident, revealing that he had to bear significant expenses, including covering funeral costs.

"Sometimes you'll be going through so much and people don't know. You are paying for a whole funeral, you are doing expenses, and so it’s a lot of things dealing with the family. Somebody lost their life. Even though the person had a mental health problem, it's still a human being, you know," he said.

According to reports, Edem was involved in an accident on the George Walker Bush Highway at about 2 a.m. on December 10, 2023, after returning from a program at UTV. The accident resulted in the death of a middle-aged woman, further intensifying the challenges he had to face.
