The Ga Traditional Council has announced a ban on drumming and noise-making as part of the customary preparations for the 2025 Homowo festival.

The ban will be in effect from Monday, May 12, 2025, to June 12, 2025, covering all areas under the Ga State.

Key Directives:

Religious Activities: Churches and mosques must confine their activities indoors, with no use of loudspeakers outside premises.

Prohibited Practices: No clapping, tambourines, megaphones, or roadside evangelism during this period.

Funeral Restrictions: No funeral rites will be allowed until Friday, June 20, 2025.

The Council emphasized that this annual tradition is legally backed under the 1992 Constitution of Ghana and urged strict compliance to honor Ga customs.

Communities including Osu, La, Nungua, Tema, Kpone, Prampram, and Ningo will announce their respective restrictions after June 12, 2025.
