Max TV has issued a public apology to Ghanaian singer Cina Soul following derogatory remarks made about her body and outfit by guest Big Akwes during their morning show on Monday, March 31, 2025.
The incident, which gained widespread attention on social media on April 1, saw Big Akwes and another guest body-shaming Cina Soul for what they described as her ‘skimpy and revealing’ outfit. The host did not intervene, drawing criticism from viewers who condemned both the guests and the station for allowing such remarks to air.
Public Outrage and Industry Backlash
The segment sparked public outrage, with many social media users and industry colleagues such as Efya, Sista Afia, and Sefa calling out the show for enabling harassment against Cina Soul.
Criticism also extended to the female presenter, who was accused of condoning the attack by failing to challenge the comments.
Max TV Issues Apology
Following the backlash, Akosua Takyiwaa, the host of Max Morning Show, issued an apology on behalf of the station on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, acknowledging that the remarks were inappropriate.
"Cina Soul, we are truly sorry for crossing the line and making it personal by attacking your personality," she stated.
"On Monday, I discussed an entertainment story with my guest, Big Akwes, who made some remarks that were unpleasant to the Ghanaian public. On behalf of Imax Media management, I, the entire Imax team, and Big Akwes sincerely apologize for how we handled the story."
The apology comes amid ongoing discussions about media responsibility and the need for more respectful conversations within the entertainment industry.
