Black Stars coach Otto Addo has emphasized the importance of Ghana winning their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The four-time African champions will regroup later this month for two crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar. After a disappointing 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign, where they failed to secure a win, Addo is determined to steer the team toward a stronger performance.
During a visit to Ga Mantse on Wednesday, March 12, the 49-year-old coach sought support from traditional leaders, stressing the significance of unity and backing from the Ghanaian people.
"We came to seek your support and guidance. We have difficult matches ahead, and the country urgently needs victories to qualify for the World Cup. I believe we must support one another, especially with the help of the Ga chiefs and the entire nation, so that everyone can be happy," he stated.
Ghana is currently tied at the top of Group I with Comoros, both sitting on nine points. The Black Stars recently boosted their standing with consecutive victories over Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR).
The team will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT, before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar at the Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24.
