Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, has been detained by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) as part of an ongoing probe into allegations of possessing multiple identities.

The controversy first surfaced in 2023 when North Tongu MP, now Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alleged that the Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral held multiple passports and identification documents under different names.

Ablakwa claimed that Rev. Kusi Boateng, under the alias Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, received GH¢2.6 million through JNS Talent Centre Ltd for the National Cathedral project. Despite these allegations, Boateng has remained an Executive Council Member of the cathedral’s board.

In July 2024, a Human Rights Court dismissed his attempt to stop Ablakwa from making public statements about his alleged involvement in the scandal.

While the specific charges remain undisclosed, sources indicate that the NIB's investigation is centered on his alleged dual identity.
