
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, SWAD International Kitchen & Bar, in collaboration with the Northern Regional Influencers, successfully hosted the first-ever Influencer Hangout with the theme: "Northern Lights: Illuminating Talents in Media and Content Creation."

The event, held at SWAD International Kitchen & Bar, brought together a diverse group of digital content creators, media personalities, and industry stakeholders to foster unity, dialogue, and recognition for influencers in Northern Ghana. It served as a pivotal moment to dialogue about the growth of the influencer industry, as well as approaches to enhance visibility, protection, and professional development for content creators.
The Influencer Hangout featured a structured program aimed at engaging attendees in meaningful conversations and interactive sessions. The activities included introductory session, panel discussion, games and networking sessions.
During the panel discussion, Petia, a staff with GIZ DTEC northern region team highlighted the role of influencers as a crucial tool for business visibility and market development. She also introduced the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its role in content creation and how the influencers can effectively use AI tools to tell stories and grow their audience.
Mr. MacCarthy Mac-Gbathy, the Executive Director of HOPin Academy and the moderator of the panel discussion stressed on how content creators should view their craft through the lenses of a business establishment and therefore give it the necessary branding and technical skills to ensure the growth of that industry.
Salma Adam a content creator popularly known as “the tamale tourist” emphasized the complexity of content creation, stating that frequent posting requires a deep understanding of algorithms to maximize audience engagement.
The discussion covered essential topics influencing the growth and sustainability of digital content creation in Ghana. The panellists shared thought-provoking insights on the industry’s evolution, opportunities, and challenges.

Queen Classy, a TV and Radio personality deliberated the interplay between traditional and digital media, noting that while traditional stations rely on social media to complement their work, they also compete with digital platforms in content dissemination. She further stressed the importance of finding a niche as an influencer, as specialization enhances marketability and influence.
Following the panel discussion, attendees engaged in a breakout and cocktail session, providing a relaxed setting for networking and further conversations. The event also featured entertaining activities, including games such as Pick and Act and Spin the Wheel.
The event concluded with a dinner, offering attendees the opportunity to bond, reflect on the discussions, and explore potential collaborations within the influencer ecosystem.
The hangout attracted over 30 of the most prominent social media influencers in the Northern Region, along with a large number of enthusiastic fans who came to show their support and engage with their favorite content creators.
The 2025 Influencer Hangout marks a significant milestone in shaping the future of digital media and content creation in Northern Ghana. By fostering collaboration and championing influencer rights, this gathering laid the foundation for continued industry growth and professional recognition.
