Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the Champions League campaign, going down 3-1 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Although the Blues showed flashes of quality, lapses at the back and poor finishing proved costly against the German champions.

The evening turned sour for Enzo Maresca’s side in the 20th minute when Trevoh Chalobah diverted the ball into his own net. Just six minutes later, Moisés Caicedo clumsily brought down Jamal Musiala inside the box, allowing Harry Kane to double Bayern’s lead from the spot.
Chelsea responded quickly, with Cole Palmer keeping his composure to finish off a well-timed pass from Malo Gusto in the 29th minute, halving the deficit and restoring some hope.
After the break, Chelsea pushed forward with energy, creating chances through Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernández, but both failed to convert. The London side’s full-backs also struggled to deliver decisive balls into the box, leaving their forwards frustrated.

Bayern capitalized on Chelsea’s wastefulness in the 63rd minute, when another defensive lapse gifted Kane his second of the night to restore the two-goal cushion. Palmer thought he had struck again, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Maresca introduced Alejandro Garnacho and Estevão to inject pace and urgency, yet Manuel Neuer stood strong in goal, keeping the visitors at bay. In the end, Chelsea left Munich disappointed, undone more by their own mistakes than by Bayern’s brilliance.
