Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Mohammed Murtala following a tragic military helicopter crash.

The crash, which occurred in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of eight individuals, including the two senior Cabinet Ministers.

Reacting to the news, Prof. Gyampo admitted he was struggling to come to terms with the reality of the situation.

“I am still living in the state of denial, hoping that until I see them dead in their caskets, it’s difficult for me to believe,” he said, visibly emotional.

Holding on to hope, he continued, “I am thinking that maybe we have to go to the forest again, hoping that we will find them hiding somewhere. Maybe they missed their way, they are lost. It is very painful.”

Meanwhile, Highlife legend and Presidential Staffer for the Black Stars Experience, Rex Omar, has called for a full-scale investigation into the incident. Speaking at a candlelight vigil held at the Ceremonial Garden in front of Jubilee House on Thursday, August 7, he described the loss as deeply personal.

“We have lost not just public servants but friends, family, and patriots. We need to understand exactly what happened. The public deserves answers,” he stated.

The crash has sparked nationwide grief and calls for a transparent inquiry into what led to the fatal accident. Both Dr. Boamah and Dr. Murtala were considered key figures in the Akufo-Addo administration, and their deaths have left a significant void in government.
