Paula was an exceptionally intelligent and kind girl. Her teachers, classmates, and even neighbors adored her. She had a way of making people smile just by talking. However, behind her bright personality, Paula harbored a painful secret—she suffered from an overactive bladder. This condition caused her to urinate frequently during the day and wet the bed at night. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't control it.
Her parents loved her deeply but constantly worried about her condition. This was why they never allowed her to attend sleepovers. They feared that if she wet someone else’s bed, she would be ridiculed. “Mommy, please let me go, just this once. I promise I’ll be careful,” Paula pleaded, showing her mother the diaper she had packed in her bag. But her mother was firm: “My daughter, it’s not that we don’t trust you, but we don’t want you to face embarrassment.”
This decision led to misunderstandings among other parents, who assumed Paula’s family was proud and arrogant. “Is it because they are rich?” some whispered. “Maybe they think our children are not good enough.” Paula hated hearing these words but remained silent.
As she grew older, her struggles intensified. She carried extra diapers to school and used perfume to mask any odor. However, some classmates noticed her frequent trips to the restroom. One afternoon, a girl named Tomi confronted her, saying, “Why do you always run to the toilet? It’s embarrassing.” Paula forced a smile and replied, “I just drink a lot of water.”
At sixteen, Paula received a scholarship to a prestigious academy. She was overjoyed, but her happiness was short-lived. The school required students to stay in the dormitory. Her parents knew this would be a challenge. “Can she attend the evening programs online?” her father asked the school director. But the director was firm: “There are no exceptions.” With heavy hearts, her parents declined the scholarship. Paula was devastated. “Mommy, why does God hate me?” she wept. Her mother held her close and whispered, “God doesn’t hate you. His plans are greater than what we see.”
Adulthood did not make things easier. Keeping a job was difficult because she frequently had to change clothes. Some colleagues gossiped about her, assuming she had bad hygiene or was involved in something suspicious. Despite her struggles, Paula kept praying for a miracle.
A young man named Isaiah had been interested in Paula for a long time, but she kept rejecting him. One day, he approached her mother. “Mama, please talk to her. I love her.” Her mother agreed to speak to Paula. “At least hear him out,” she urged. Reluctantly, Paula agreed. As she got to know Isaiah, she realized he was kind and patient. One evening, she decided to tell him the truth about her condition. “If you want to leave, I understand,” she said. But Isaiah held her hand and replied, “I love you. We’ll get through this together.”
They got married, but the challenges persisted. Every morning, Isaiah would take the mattress outside to dry. Neighbors began gossiping. “Why is this man always bringing the mattress outside?” Some even suggested Paula was the one wetting the bed. Overwhelmed by shame, Paula considered ending her life. One evening, she held a knife to her wrist, but Isaiah walked in just in time. He grabbed the knife and pulled her into his arms. “Paula, you are my wife. I will stand by you.”
Determined to fight for his wife, Isaiah turned to prayer. One day, while in his office, he came across a flyer with the Bible verse Isaiah 53:5: By His stripes, you are healed. Something stirred within him. That night, he knelt before Paula and prayed with unwavering faith. “By the authority of God, I command this sickness to leave your body now!”
The next morning, Paula woke up dry for the first time in years. Tears of joy filled her eyes. “Isaiah! I didn’t wet the bed!” They embraced, overwhelmed by God’s miracle. Two weeks later, they stood before their church congregation and shared their testimony. As Paula spoke, many people suffering from various ailments stepped forward for prayers. To everyone’s amazement, healings took place right there.
Through Paula’s pain came a powerful testimony. Her struggles were not in vain. Her story became a source of hope and healing for many. If you believe in the power of faith, never give up. Your miracle may just be around the corner.
