The Story of the Lion Who Couldn't Sleep
Once upon a time, in a big, sunny forest, there lived a strong lion and his kind lioness. They were the best of friends and loved each other very much. They played, hunted, and ran through the forest together when they were young.
After some time, they had three little cubs. The oldest cub was brave and loved to play by himself. The younger two cubs always wanted to stay close to their mother, the lioness. She loved her cubs so much and always kept them near her, especially when they slept.
Every night, when the stars came out, the lion would stretch his big paws and look at his lioness. "Do you remember when we were young and wild, running through the forest?" he would ask her. The lioness would smile, remembering the fun times they had before the cubs were born.
But now, the lion had a problem. He couldn’t sleep! He missed the fun they used to have, just the two of them. So, every night, while the cubs were sleeping, the lion would wake up his lioness. He wanted to play and feel young again. But the lioness was tired from looking after the cubs all day.
One night, the lion said, "We’re not old! We can still have fun, like we used to." The lioness looked at him and said, "But we have our cubs now. They need us, and I’m so tired."
Still, the lion tried every night to wake up the lioness. Sometimes, the cubs would wake up too, scared because the bed was shaking. The lioness would try to calm them, but the lion was full of energy and didn’t want to stop.
The lioness loved her lion very much, but she wished he could wait until the cubs were older. She wanted to sleep in peace, and take care of the cubs without being so tired.
And so, every night, the lion tried again, and every night, the lioness wished for rest.
The end.
