Born Emma Naa Okailey Quaye, the artist known simply as Emma Quaye - De Soul Inspirer carries a voice and message that reach beyond music — into ministry. Her journey into the world of music wasn’t a planned career move but a divine calling, one that has shaped her into a vessel of inspiration and faith.

The name Emma Quaye, given depth by her soulful sound, came through a simple yet powerful affirmation from her music engineer, who described her voice as “soul-inspiring.” It was a fitting reflection of her music — heartfelt, spirit-led, and filled with emotion.
A proud Ga woman from Osu, Emma’s story mirrors the resilience and grace that define many life journeys. “Life was good until the unexpected happened,” she recalls. “It became a bumpy road with twists and turns, like everyone experiences. But as the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, turn them into lemonade — that’s exactly what I did.”
For Emma, who distributes her music through Apprise Music, music is more than melody — it’s ministry. “My inspiration to pursue music goes beyond a career; it’s a divine calling,” she shares. “I was an intercessor, not part of the choir at all. My singing was birthed out of prayer. My own experiences of God’s grace, His faithfulness, and mercy inspired me to sing. The Holy Spirit compels you when you make yourself available as a vessel to spread His message of salvation and redemption to the world — for His glory, not mine.”
Her roots in Victory Bible Church under Bishop Tackie Yarboi laid the foundation for this spiritual journey. As an active member of the church’s home cell fellowship, Emma was noticed by the late Bishop Albert Asante, affectionately known as “Man on the Sacs.” “He told me his wife, Mrs. Martha Asante, believed I was a worship leader in the making,” Emma recalls. “I resisted at first because I didn’t like the spotlight. But not long after, a prophet from Obuasi confirmed it, asking me to move from the prayer section to the choir. Soon, people began to ask, ‘When did you start singing?’”
Though naturally introverted and shy, Emma Quaye’s music speaks boldly. “There’s no direct link between one’s personality and their music,” she explains. “My goal has always been to share the message of salvation and redemption. Music is healing — it creates a connection with the divine and brings hope to people.”
With every song, Emma Quaye reminds her listeners that music can be both spiritual and transformative. Her voice carries warmth, conviction, and authenticity, serving as a channel of God’s love and inspiration.
As she beautifully puts it, “It’s all about God, and not us.”
