Accra came alive with cultural splendor as King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, made his majestic arrival during the Homowo Festival 2025. The occasion was marked by vibrant traditions, drumming, and cheer as the people of Ga Mashie welcomed their King with pride and honor.
A highlight of the event was the Ga Mantse paying homage to King Tackie Tawiah I at Makola, a symbolic act that connected the past with the present while reinforcing the rich legacy of Ga leadership. Dressed in regal attire, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was received with cheers from the crowd, who turned out in their numbers to witness this historic moment.
The atmosphere reflected the essence of Homowo, which means “hooting at hunger,” as the sprinkling of kpekple, the traditional festival meal, signified abundance, prosperity, and hope for the coming year. The display of Ga culture through music, dance, and communal unity made the celebration not only a cultural showcase but also a reaffirmation of identity and heritage.
