RocAfrik 2025 Lights Up Accra with Culture, Rhythm, and Soul at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum

Mon, 1 Dec 2025 Source: Philip NeeWhang

On the evening of 28th November, Accra became the heart of African expression as the debut RocAfrik Music & Arts Festival — organised by Apprise Music & Media — culminated in a mesmerizing concert at the historic Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum. What unfolded was not merely a show, but a cultural and emotional experience that stirred pride, reverence, and collective joy.

The night opened in ceremonial elegance with traditional cultural dancers who transformed the stage into a space of ancestral welcome. Their movement and rhythm signaled that this was more than a concert — it was a cultural awakening. Soon after, Michael Saba stepped forward with a soul-stirring gospel performance, blessing the evening with a sense of gratitude and spiritual upliftment.

Every performer who followed carried the same spirit of sincerity and artistic devotion, reflecting both Ghanaian heritage and the broader global narrative of African creativity.

Abiana and Auļi: A Fusion Beyond Borders

At the heart of the night was the unforgettable collaboration between Ghanaian vocalist Abiana and Latvian folk powerhouse Auļi.

Their live renditions from the Voices of Ghana EP delivered a musical experience that transcended language and geography.

Abiana’s voice — rich, delicate, and emotionally charged — seemed to evoke generations of Ghanaian memory and maternal warmth.

Auļi, with their booming drums and commanding bagpipes, propelled the music with a tribal urgency that felt both ancient and new.

Their union on stage was a sonic exchange between continents: Baltic depth merging with African radiance. The performance didn’t just touch the audience — it enveloped them. Many lingered in the moment long after the last note faded.

Artists Who Elevated the Night

The carefully curated lineup ensured that every moment of the festival carried artistic purpose:

- King Eazie energized the stage with crowd engagement and lively rhythmic flow.

- Ayizam blended contemporary delivery with a grounded cultural presence.

- Osagyefo brought forward a soulful, roots-infused performance, reminding listeners of Ghana’s musical lineage.

- Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi filled the venue with thoughtful reggae vibrations and seasoned musical wisdom.

- King Nzema captivated the audience with power, dynamism, and spirited vocals.

- Rob Roy commanded attention with timeless stage mastery, echoing a classic 70’s musical sensibility.

- Nativ Afrik moved the crowd with a culturally immersive performance — one that felt like a direct channel to the deeper essence of African heritage.

Each artist contributed to a night where unique styles converged into one unified experience.

Akuna Wallet Engaged the Crowd

Audience members who downloaded and activated the Akuna Wallet app enjoyed the thrill of surprise cash giveaways during the event. These moments of reward amplified engagement — blending digital convenience with real-time celebration.

A Cultural Milestone at a Sacred Location

The choice of the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum was meaningful and symbolic. Performing at the resting site of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah placed RocAfrik within a larger story of independence, leadership, and African identity.

The festival accomplished its mission: to serve as a bridge between cultures, nations, and ancestral connections — and to mark the beginning of an annual tradition with global resonance.

Accra Will Carry This Memory Forward

As the lights softened and the night drew to a close, there was a shared understanding among everyone present: this was not an ordinary concert — it was a cultural moment that mattered.

Abiana and Auļi’s collaboration was the emotional zenith of the evening, yet the cumulative energy of all performers created something larger: a feeling of unity and artistic triumph.

RocAfrik 2025 was not merely concluded — it was born. And with it, a new Ghana-grown cultural landmark has entered the world stage.
