UK-based Ghanaian gospel artiste Charles Otchere Boahene, popularly known as Charlie Barnes, has been named Best Male Gospel Artiste of the Year at the Modern Gospel Awards 2025.
The ceremony, which honoured leading voices in contemporary gospel music, was filled with worship, emotion, and celebration. Charlie Barnes’ win became one of the night’s most memorable moments.
He had travelled from the United Kingdom to attend the awards without expecting to receive any honour. His surprise and gratitude were clear as he took to the stage, moved to tears, to receive the award.
