As part of activities marking breast Cancer Awareness Month, ASA Savings and Loans Limited has launched a free breast screening exercise for women at its operational branches, reaffirming its commitment to health promotion and community development.

The initiative, launched at the company’s “New Town branch in Accra, is one of ASA’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes aimed at encouraging early detection and prevention of breast cancer among women, particularly in underserved communities.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Richard Nartey, Sustainability Manager at ASA Savings and Loans, revealed that the screening will be conducted across 15 branches nationwide throughout October.

He noted that health remains a key pillar of the company’s sustainability agenda, adding that empowering women with access to preventive healthcare directly contributes to building stronger communities.

We believe financial empowerment must go hand-in-hand with physical well-being. That is why ASA Savings and Loans continues to invest in healthcare initiatives, especially for women who form a significant portion of our customer base,” he said.

Medical practitioner Dr. Edwin Essel from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, who led the medical team, educated participants on breast cancer detection, symptoms, and self-examination techniques. He urged women to prioritize regular medical check-ups, stressing that early diagnosis significantly increases the chances of survival.

Several customers expressed appreciation to ASA Savings and Loans for the gesture, describing it as timely and thoughtful.

Not many financial institutions think about our health. ASA has shown they truly care about us beyond business,” one beneficiary remarked.

The company reiterated its commitment to expanding the health initiative in subsequent years to reach more women and deepen awareness about breast cancer prevention.
