On February 17, 2025, the Ghana Association of Medical Herbalists (GAMH) and the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in herbal medicine education, research, and clinical practice.

Led by GAMH President Dr. (MH) Sandra Ashong and UHAS Vice Chancellor Prof. Lydia Aziato, the partnership aims to advance Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) in Ghana.

Key areas of focus include:

- Capacity Building: Developing accredited courses, workshops, and CPD programs for medical herbalists.

- Research & Development: Conducting studies on herbal medicine efficacy, safety, and standardization.

- Advocacy & Public Education: Promoting safe herbal medicine use through media and outreach.

- Clinical Practice: Enhancing healthcare delivery and establishing herbal medicine centers.

GAMH, established in 2006, continues to integrate herbal medicine into mainstream healthcare, with 54 Ghana Health Service facilities and one teaching hospital already incorporating herbal practices.

The association remains committed to driving innovation and excellence in the herbal medicine industry.
