Removal of Chief Justice : The National Policies Crusaders Association of Ghana calls for fairness and transparency

The Chief Justice of Ghana, Gertrude Torkornoo, is facing a petition for her removal due to alleged incompetence and misbehavior. The petition, filed by Kwaku Asare, a constitutional lawyer and professor of accounting, claims that the Chief Justice has committed constitutional and administrative breaches that warrant her removal to maintain the integrity of the Judiciary ¹.

The removal process is governed by Article 146 of Ghana's constitution, which requires the President to consult with the Council of State to determine whether a prima facie case exists against the Chief Justice. If a prima facie case is established, a committee will be set up to investigate the matter, and their recommendations will guide the President's decision.

The National Policies Crusaders Association of Ghana has expressed concerns about the treatment of women in positions of power, highlighting the need for fairness and transparency in the removal process. The association's National Organizer, Alfred Ahiatsi Believe, has signed the press release, emphasizing the importance of a fair and transparent process.
