We Dedicated Our Lives to NDC, Not Money - Joshua Akamba

Former National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Captain Joshua Akamba, has urged current members of the party’s Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) to remain committed to the party’s ideals and values.

According to him, his generation of NDC activists dedicated their lives to serving the party without making financial considerations the primary motivation for their involvement.

Captain Akamba made the remarks during a TEIN handing-over ceremony at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC).

Reflecting on his years of active involvement in the NDC, the former National Youth Organiser said loyalty and sacrifice were central to the work of activists at the time.

“All we did was to dedicate our lives to NDC,” he said, emphasising the sacrifices made by members who served the party during difficult periods.

He expressed concern that some students and young activists today appear to place greater emphasis on financial benefits than on loyalty and commitment to the party.

“TEIN students of today are all about money and not loyalty to the NDC. We served with loyalty and dignity; we didn’t sell our conscience,” Captain Akamba stated.

He urged the students to see their involvement in the NDC as an opportunity to contribute to the development of the party and the country rather than as a means of securing immediate personal benefits.

The former youth organiser further reminded the students that political activism requires patience, discipline and sacrifice.

His comments come at a time when the NDC continues to rely heavily on its youth and student structures to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and prepare a new generation of leaders for the party.
