Prosdos’ Music Career
Prosdos began his musical journey during the COVID-19 lockdown when he released his debut single “Bebe Shokoma”, a soulful song that resonated with many for its heartfelt message.
Since then, he has performed at major cultural festivals including the Aspatere Festival and Akwaba Festival in Ghana, showcasing his unique style and electrifying stage presence.
Prosdos is known for his creativity and cultural pride, with one of his most memorable stage outfits made entirely from corn husks—a reflection of his commitment to blending African traditions with modern artistry.
Awards and Recognition
Aside from the Togo Culture Internationale recognition, Prosdos has earned several honors for his contributions to African music. Most notably, in August 2025, he received the prestigious Grand Prix Africain de la Culture from the Union Africaine Pour La Culture (UAC) in Togo.
This award celebrated his relentless dedication, sleepless nights of hard work, and his vision of preserving and promoting African music on global platforms.
Speaking after the honor, Prosdos said: “It feels good for the many sleepless nights and hard work. This is just the beginning.”
Inspirations and Musical Influences
Prosdos draws inspiration from Ghanaian greats such as VVIP, Reggie Rockstone, Daddy Lumba, Amakye Dede, Kofi B, and Shatta Wale, as well as Togolese legend King Mensah and other African stars.
These influences have shaped his sound, which fuses traditional African rhythms with contemporary beats, making his music both authentic and relatable.
Future Projects
The Ghanaian star is currently working on his first full studio album, which is expected to feature his signature Afro-traditional style. He is also collaborating with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to organize a cultural festival in Ketu South, aimed at promoting peace, unity, and African heritage through music.
Despite these successes, Prosdos has admitted that financial challenges remain a hurdle in producing and promoting his work. He has appealed for more support from cultural institutions, including Ghana’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, to help emerging talents reach their full potential.
Conclusion
From his early beginnings with “Bebe Shokoma” to receiving international recognition, Prosper Dossey (Prosdos) is steadily carving his niche as one of Ghana’s rising cultural ambassadors. With his creativity, dedication, and vision, he is poised to become one of Africa’s most influential music exports.
