Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged the NPP to cease distorting his remarks about the Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative.
During a recent meeting with Ahwerewam locals as part of his campaign trip of the Ashanti region, he stated that the NDC would support, preserve, and sustain the Free SHS programme while eliminating the double-track system. However, Asiedu Nketia stated that the ruling NPP has misrepresented his words and published a deceptive video on social media that claims the NDC intends to cancel the entire Free SHS policy if given the mandate.
At the NDC's Asante Akyem North Constituency campaign launch, Asiedu Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, warned the NPP to stop propagating misleading information. Asiedu Nketia reaffirmed that if given the mandate, the NDC will continue to support and preserve the Free SHS effort, but the double-track system will be removed to improve its effectiveness and educational outcomes. He urged Ghanaians to ignore the deceptive film that is now circulating, emphasising that it is absolutely untrue and lacking in truth. Asiedu Nketia assured the public that the Free SHS programme will be continued and supported.
