On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Dennis Owusu Ansah, 16, a recent graduate of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), was set to start school when he was fatally murdered. Police are currently detaining three young girls who are suspected of being engaged in the stabbing.
At around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dennis and one of the girls got into an argument as they were escorting a friend home, which led to the tragic incident that took place in Anloga, Ashanti Region. Witnesses claim that during the fight, one of the girls pulled out a knife and stabbed Dennis in the rib, causing him to bleed heavily. When they got to the hospital after Dennis was taken there, they pronounced him dead. His son's untimely demise has left his family in shock and anguish.
His mother, Stella Frimpong, expressed her grief and begged the authorities to see that justice was served. After visiting Tweneboa Kodua (SHS) on Saturday, we were told to report on Thursday. Therefore, since the child has died, I beg you, authorities, to ensure that justice is served," she said. Dennis's brother, Evans Owusu Ansah, emphasized the gravity of the situation and reiterated the call for justice. "The government must help and make sure that justice is done because you can't kill a boy like that," the family is asking for. If a youngster is fifteen years old, you cannot simply stab them. The state is responsible for ensuring that appropriate action is taken. That a child her age could do that astounds me," he said.
