Armed Robber Shot Dead in Fierce Firefight with Police

One suspect was killed during an intense shootout between police and alleged armed robbers in Abedwum, a community near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command reported that officers were alerted to an ongoing robbery in the area on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The Obuasi Divisional Police promptly responded, deploying personnel to confront the heavily armed criminals.

Upon arrival, the suspects reportedly fled into a nearby forest while firing shots. Police pursued them, engaging in a gunfight that resulted in the death of one robber.

A search of the deceased’s bag uncovered 14 live bullets and other items, while the remaining suspects managed to escape. Authorities suspect the fugitives may have been injured and urge the public to report anyone with gunshot wounds to the nearest police station.
