At the age of 66, Patience Ozokwo has been awarded her first doctorate degree.

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, affectionately known as "Mama G," has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Theatre and Media Arts by the Achievers Network Academy in the United Kingdom. The 66-year-old actress received this honor in recognition of her extensive contributions to Nollywood and African cinema over many decades.

At a ceremony on Saturday, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) presented the award and also honored Yoruba actors Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko for their iconic contributions to the industry.

Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Ozokwor expressed gratitude, saying, “Today was like a movie. Honorary Doctorate Degree. Thank you, UNILAG. Thank you.”

Nollywood pioneer Patience Ozokwor started her career as a radio announcer before gaining prominence with the 1999 film "Authority." She has starred in over 100 films, with notable performances in classics such as "Ukwa" (2001), "Blood Sister" (2003), and "Billionaires Club" (2003).
