Another digital health platform has been introduced by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to increase the nation's access to high-quality medical care. With every government health facility in the country connected to the network, known as Telehealth Health Services, the goal is to bring medical consultations into Ghanaians' homes and hands while also redefining the parameters of healthcare delivery.

The Ministry of Health (MoH), in close coordination with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the Pharmacy Council, the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency, and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), will oversee telehealth services. The new health program is a component of the National E-Pharmacy Platform (NEPP), which has been included into the private health insurance and NHIA systems as part of efforts to transform the nation's prescription management and dispensing practices.

Speaking to the public this afternoon at the Ejisu Government Hospital, which included GHS, MoH, NHIA, and other stakeholders, Dr. Bawumia said the healthcare app's launch reaffirms his government's commitment to bringing humanity and technology together in the healthcare industry. “These innovations will redefine the contours of healthcare delivery in our beloved nation, and we are here to officially launch the NHIA Telehealth Services and the continued nationwide growth of the National E-Pharmacy System,” Dr. Bawumia said.

According to the vice president, the stakeholders are all joining forces to realize a bold yet essential vision. According to him, this goal guarantees that all citizens, regardless of where they live, have unrestricted access to high-quality healthcare.

NHIA Telehealth Services

The continuous integration of innovation and technology into the delivery of vital services in all spheres of Ghanaian society is largely attributed to the NHIA Telehealth Services. It is not only a supplement to the healthcare system; rather, it is a ground-breaking strategy that puts medical consultations in our citizens' homes.

All people will have access to specialized care thanks to telehealth services, which will also save money and time on trip. Routine follow-ups may be completed online, which will relieve hospital traffic and free up hospital space for urgent and critical situations. Because regular check-ups would guarantee stable control of patients conditions without frequent hospital trips, the management of chronic diseases including diabetes and hypertension will be enhanced.

Hospital decluttering will enable prompt medical care as well as a rise in education and awareness, enabling the delivery of critical health information to large audiences that can also encourage preventative healthcare behaviors. "Compared to traditional methods, telehealth services offer rapid preliminary consultations that can guide necessary actions or interventions much faster," he continued.

Dr. Bawumia commended the staff of the agencies and urged the officials charged with running the service to ensure and maintain the highest quality standards.
