A 20-year-old man, identified as Yaw, has reportedly stabbed his 17-year-old brother, Paa Kwesi, to death in Mampong, a community near Kansaworado in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.
Reports indicate that the fatal altercation stemmed from a dispute over a damaged padlock. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Nana Kwamena Famanyame, the chief linguist of the community, recounted the events leading to the tragedy. He explained that the two brothers lived with their mother and stepfather. The deceased had suspected his phone was locked inside his elder brother’s room and, after failing to locate him, broke the padlock to retrieve it.
Upon returning and discovering the broken lock, Yaw became enraged, leading to a violent confrontation. In the heat of the argument, he allegedly pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed his younger brother. Nana Famanyame shared these details with Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, on August 18.
The community has been left in shock by the incident, while police intensify efforts to apprehend the suspect.
Officers from the Kwesimintsim District Police Command, assisted by the Anaji Police, visited the scene and transported the victim’s body to the mortuary. Investigations are ongoing, and a manhunt is underway to locate Yaw.
