The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has declared a nationwide strike effective, Thursday, November 7, 2024.
This comes after notice was given on October 23, 2024, regarding what CLOGSAG characterized as an extended delay in deciding on a staff pay structure that would be in effect on January 1, 2025.
The Association claims that the announcement is in accordance with the deadline of October 31 for the government to fulfill their demands.
In a statement, CLOGSAG said despite multiple meetings since then, the government has yet to make a concrete offer.
They have therefore decided not to have anything to do with the Fair Wages and the Salaries Commission (FWSC) because it has acted in bad faith.
According to parts of the statement, "CLOGSAG members have no other option than to stay at home from November 7, 2024, due to the delay in the completion of the salary structure and other conditions of service."
