A viral video has gone viral, prompting many Ghanaians to ask whether the late former President Jerry John Rawlings is still alive. The footage, obtained during the Asante Mamponghene's one-week observation, reveals a guy who shares a strong likeness to Ghana's late monarch. The man, dressed in customary black mourning clothes and dark sunglasses, went boldly through the ceremony, provoking much curiosity.

The remarkable resemblance has sparked a flurry of emotions online. Many social media users were surprised, with one asking, "Is J.J. Rawlings still alive?"

Another user said, "Ah, so Papa Jay was alive, so it was settings that he died or?" Another person said, "No, I think this is Rawlings from Alibaba." Some people expressed disbelief, with one saying, "For a second, I really thought that was… wow." My eyes were not prepared.

Jerry John Rawlings, Ghana's former president from 1981 to 2001, died on November 12, 2020. His death signaled the end of an era for the country, but his legacy endures. The release of this video has rekindled debate over the influence of his leadership and the good memories many Ghanaians still have of him.

While it is evident that the man in the video is not Rawlings, but rather a doppelganger, the footage has filled many with a sense of nostalgia and comedy. Such instances are not rare, particularly for public personalities whose influence and memory are deeply embedded in the hearts of the people.
