The Grand Lodge of Ghana has formally begun a new period of Masonic leadership with the installation of Right Worshipful (RW) Dr Nortey K. Omaboe as Grandmaster. The ceremony took place today at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

According to the Grand Lodge of Ghana's official website, Dr. Omaboe brings decades of dedicated Masonic service to his new position, as well as a professional background and cultural origins. His installation today marks the start of what many in the fraternity expect to be a transformative moment of growth, unity, and service.

Dr. Omaboe's Masonic path has been marked by strategic leadership and steadfast dedication to the fraternity's key values of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.

Since 2019, he has served as Chairman of the Grand Lodge Finance Committee, where he was involved in negotiating the Grand Lodge Funeral Insurance Policy with Vanguard Assurance and leading the fundraising campaign for the Heal Okomfo Anokye Charitable Project.

According to the Grand Lodge of Ghana, he helped raise record-breaking contributions for the Grand Lodge's COVID-19 Appeal and was instrumental in the transfer of the Grand Lodge Secretariat. He also represented Ghana in important global Masonic discussions, such as a high-level video conference sponsored by the Grand Lodge National of France on the influence of COVID-19 on the craft.

Dr. Omaboe's generosity within the fraternity has also been widely felt. Since becoming President of the Samaritan Foundation in 2018, he has reorganized the organization's administration, implemented a new IT platform for member donations, and strengthened support mechanisms for spouses of deceased members. His previous term as Grand President of the Board of Benevolence (2013-2017) witnessed the successful establishment of the Lewis Fund, the Grand Lodge's first autonomous charity.

He has served as a Grand Lodge delegate at fraternal activities in Côte d'Ivoire, the UK, France, and South Africa. He belongs to several notable lodges, including Masonry Universal Lodge No. 40 in Geneva, Herschel Lodge No. 1894 in the United Kingdom, and Lodge Étoile du Ghana No. 107.

Aside from Freemasonry, Dr. Omaboe is an economist and business executive. He has a BA in Economics from Leeds University, an MBA in Finance from Columbia University, and a Doctorate in Business Administration in Corporate Strategy from the International School of Management in Paris. In traditional leadership, he is known as Nana Awuku Sakyi, having previously served as Akyempemhene of Amanokrom for 25 years and Mpuntuhene of Akuapem since 2020.

As Grandmaster, Dr Omaboe is anticipated to lead the Grand Lodge into a new era, with an emphasis on strategic expansion, charitable impact, and strengthening fraternal harmony. His installation is more than merely taking office; it is, as the Grand Lodge puts it, "the dawn of a legacy in the making."
