A mob attacked the Ejura Police Station after a suspect died in jail. The attack resulted in the station being set on fire.

A serious scenario erupted in Ejura early this morning when a mob attacked and burned down the local police station.

The incident resulted from the death of a suspect in police custody.

The suspect was apprehended on suspicion of stealing on Friday evening and complained of illness while in custody. He was promptly taken to the Ejura Government Hospital for medical assistance, where he tragically died.

After learning of his death, a group of community members came on the police station and launched a violent attack. The station was set on fire, and the mob forcibly removed the deceased's body from the hospital.

Quick action by the Ghana Police Service, in coordination with the military, managed to calm the unrest and restore order.

Community leaders played a critical part in calming the situation. The Ghana National Fire Service also came quickly to put out the fire at the police station.

The tragedy has raised concerns in the community, and investigations are continuing to discover the actual circumstances behind the suspect's death.
