Godwin Asediba, a Ghanaian journalist with TV3 and 3FM, has been selected as the tenth recipient of the BBC News Komla Dumor Award. The award, now in its tenth year, was established to honor the late BBC presenter Komla Dumor, who was celebrated for his nuanced and entrepreneurial portrayal of Africa.

Asediba, 29, is an investigative reporter and filmmaker known for his focus on social injustice and stories from marginalized groups. Judges praised his commitment to journalistic integrity, citing investigations like his expose on a neglected public mortuary in Ghana.

Upon accepting the award, Asediba stated it was both a personal milestone and a call to continue Dumor's legacy of transformative journalism. His prize includes a three-month placement with the BBC in London for training and mentorship, followed by a reporting trip elsewhere in Africa to produce a story for the BBC's global platforms.
