Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has criticized state institutions' congratulatory advertising for the president-elect, describing them as wasteful and out of touch with Ghanaians' challenges. Speaking on Peace FM's *Kokrokoo* broadcast, Pratt called the full-color ads "senseless," especially given the country's current economic woes.
The seasoned journalist expressed concern about the viability of such expenditures in a country dealing with a severe financial crisis and mounting national debt. He contended that public organizations should value responsible resource management over symbolic gestures.
"Full-page color advertisements celebrating His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and Her Excellency Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang are a waste of money. We are in a national crisis, but congratulatory notes are costing public institutions a lot of money. "What you did is wrong, and I am not afraid to tell the truth," he stated on UTV.
Pratt noted that supporting leadership should go beyond grand gestures, asking institutions to concentrate on improving their performance. "If you want to show love to the president, work hard to improve the institutions you're managing," he said, emphasizing results-driven activities over wasteful spending.
He also questioned if the funds allotted for these commercials had been properly accounted for in the organizations' budgets. His comments come as Ghana's economic troubles spark calls for greater fiscal discipline and responsibility.
