Mike Ofikwu, a lawyer and activist from Otukpo, was brutally killed by unidentified gunmen at his home in Benue State's Otukpo Local Government Area. The terrible event happened outside his house on Otukpa Street in Otukpo town on Wednesday evening at approximately 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Ofikwu was shot at close range by two armed individuals in a car after he had just returned from work and was waiting for his gate to be opened, according to witnesses.
A person who wished to remain anonymous described it as "like a scene from a movie." "The attackers, who seemed to be pursuing him, drove up and opened fire before sped off." "He had just arrived home and was waiting for his gate to be opened."
The source went on to say that after neighbors noticed the shooting and hurried Mr. Ofikwu to the hospital, he passed away from his wounds after losing a large amount of blood.
SP Catherine Anene, the public relations officer for the Benue State Police, confirmed the occurrence and offered her condolences to the deceased's family and friends. She gave the public her word that an inquiry had been opened and that those responsible would face consequences.
