Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the vice presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised the good people of Larabanga and Ghanaians in general that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's next NPP government will place a high priority on tourism investments in order to establish Ghana as Africa's tourism hub.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Dr. Prempeh spoke at a campaign rally in Larabanga, a suburb of Damongo in the Savanna Region. He acknowledged that the area has many tourist attractions, such as the historic Larabanga Mosque and the Mole National Park, and he promised to develop these areas.
"I know there are a lot of tourist attractions in this area. Larabanga Mosque and Mole National Park are well-known. I promise that the Dr. Bawumia administration would invest the resources required to transform these and other very significant tourist destinations in the nation into top-tier travel destinations.
According to him, the government would not only develop all of our tourist destinations but will also expedite the visa application process by implementing an e-visa policy for all foreign visitors to Ghana in order to draw in foreign tourists and further increase tourism for socioeconomic benefits.
Dr. Prempeh further mentioned that in order to encourage the business sector to invest more in tourism and creative arts facilities, the government will be implementing a flat tax rate. Ghana will eventually become Africa's tourism powerhouse if these policies are implemented successfully, he said.
He urged the residents of Larabanga and, consequently, the Damongo constituents to re-elect Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor as their member of parliament so that he can carry on his excellent job in advancing the constituency and beyond.
