Professor Michael Kpessa-Whyte, a well-known political scientist, has expressed severe concerns regarding the Electoral Commission's (EC) readiness and openness ahead of Ghana's elections. He claims that the EC may have recruited New Patriotic Party (NPP) members for key polling station positions, jeopardizing the electoral process's integrity.

Prof. Kpessa-Whyte condemns the EC for failing to publish the identities of those recruited to oversee election activities, highlighting the need of transparency in fostering public trust. He also brings up logistical problems, such as the distribution of election materials and the functionality of biometric verification devices (BVDs).

For example, in Asawase, which has 215 voting stations, only 401 of the required 430 biometric devices have been distributed. The EC's statement, "we will manage," is troubling since it could result in delays, large lines, and potentially disenfranchised voters.

To address these concerns, Prof. Kpessa-Whyte urges the EC to:

- *Publish the list of polling station staff* to ensure transparency and accountability

- *Provide detailed information on the distribution and readiness of election materials*

- *Ensure the functionality of biometric devices* and make adequate logistical preparations to prevent disruptions
