The commanding officer of the Achiase Jungle Warfare Training School, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.) Jacob Codjoe, has threatened to "beat" any Ghanaian who tries to use them if they are called in to maintain order on December 7.
During the elections, Lt. Col. Cudjoe and his soldiers are anxiously awaiting anyone who wants to try them, he stated in a video that has gone viral. He warned that anyone attempting to interfere with the elections would be severely beaten by him and his troops.
In response to his remarks, irate social media users demanded that he be sent to Lebanon to fight a real war rather than "beat" civilians.
“Send him to Lebanon to keep the peace there,” one user wrote.
Others questioned when maintaining national harmony was under the purview of the military. Another commenter questioned, "Since when did that become the work of the military?"
