Alban Sumana Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, is in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, for the 67th Conference of the CPA International.
Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the former Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Suame, the two Leaders of the House, two Whips, the Clerk to Parliament, and other Parliamentary Service representatives are part of the Ghanaian team led by Mr. Bagbin.
This is contained in a press release dated October 30, issued by the Public Affairs Sub-division of the Parliamentary Service.
“The conference is to take place from the 3rd to the 8th of November, where Speaker Bagbin, the Immediate Past President of CPA International, is expected to hand over to the newly elected President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, the Speaker of the Parliament of New South Wales, Australia,” the release disclosed.
However, the Rt. Hon. Speaker stated that he would be returning to Ghana sooner than expected since members of Parliament had asked him to recall Parliament, it added. His staff has already begun the procedures to recall the House in early November, he said. Recently, the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures elected Speaker Bagbin to a second term in office.
