Swedru Senior High School's headmistress summoned this pupil to the assembly grounds in front of everyone this morning. The cause is surprising.
Mrs. Golda Esi Andam, headmistress of Swedru Senior High School, praised two students for their honesty after they discovered a purse containing a large sum of money and returned it to school authorities.
Mrs. Andam applauded the students' exceptional behavior during Monday's morning assembly, citing their acts as a reflection of the ideals of honesty and accountability. Without mentioning the specific amount of money or the color of the purse, she stated that the figure was significant enough to surprise her.
"These are the characteristics we aim to instill in you all: honesty and a feeling of responsibility. When you find someone's belongings, do the right thing and return them. "God will certainly bless you for that," she remarked.
Mrs. Andam, as a token of thanks, gave each of the pupils 20 Ghana cedis from her own pocket and encouraged the rest of the school to follow suit. She also used the opportunity to educate students about being reckless with their personal goods, reminding them that they may not always encounter people as trustworthy as the two who returned the bag.
Swedru Senior High School, located in Agona Swedru in Ghana's Central Region, was founded in 1959 and has since established itself as one of the country's most notable secondary institutions. With an emphasis on academic performance and character development, the school has regularly produced students who exemplify the institution's core ideals of discipline and moral integrity. This latest display of integrity demonstrates the good impact of the school's efforts to develop responsible citizens.
