A devastating accident occurred earlier today on the Nsawam–Accra Road, sending plumes of black smoke into the sky and leaving a scene of utter destruction. A fuel tanker exploded, triggering a massive fire that engulfed four other vehicles, burning them beyond recognition.

According to initial reports from eyewitnesses and emergency services at the scene, the tragedy began when the fuel tanker was involved in a collision with one of the affected vehicles. The impact caused the tanker to lose its load and subsequently catch fire.

Within moments, the flames spread with terrifying speed, trapping the other vehicles in the inferno. The intensity of the blaze was so severe that the affected vehicles—believed to include private cars and possibly a commercial minibus—were completely charred, leaving behind only their twisted metal skeletons.

Emergency responders, including the Ghana National Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene to battle the flames and search for survivors. As of the time of this report, the full extent of casualties remains unknown, but sources at the scene fear the worst due to the sheer intensity of the fire.

The accident has caused significant traffic disruptions on the major highway, with motorists being advised to use alternative routes as authorities work to clear the wreckage and conduct investigations.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by heavy-duty vehicles on our roads, particularly fuel tankers. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available regarding the victims and the cause of the collision.
