According to reports, violent battles at Abetifi in the Kwawu Municipality of the Eastern Region have resulted in six individuals suffering cutlass wounds.

After Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, the Acting Kwawuhene, and Abetifihene were taken prisoner by unidentified armed men on Thursday, panic broke out.

In an attempt to stop the suspected kidnappers from leaving the town, a group of irate residents mounted a roadblock.

A group of angry neighbors set up a barrier to prevent the accused kidnappers from leaving the town.

According to information obtained by Adom News, the armed men were led to the town by Obaapanyin Yaa Asantewaa, who identifies himself as the Abrewatia of the Kwawu region. She was led to the Abetifi Palace, where Asiedu Agyemang III was detained by the men, who the locals initially believed to be National Security agents.

After that, Akyemfour Agyemang III was escorted by Yaa Asantewaa and the armed men to a nearby old palace, where she used a sheep to execute customary rites intended to destool him.

This act of destoolment angered the youth, who saw it as an affront to their chief.

Soon crowds gathered, many of them young individuals brandishing cutlasses and voicing their disapproval. The situation would have worsened and the armed thugs would have been apprehended if the cops hadn't acted quickly. By carrying out ceremonies to rescind the destoolment, the traditional chiefs at Abetifi have confirmed Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III's position as chief. In retaliation, the young person stripped Yaa Asantewaa of her clothing and led her to the police station nude. Since then, the police have started looking into what caused the altercations.
