The Nigerian Police Force has taken disciplinary action against a member of the Imo Police Command, demoting him from Sergeant to Corporal after a horrific video appeared online showing him attacking a citizen.

The video, which soon went viral, shows the cop physically engaging the civilian in an apparent display of hostility.

The incident, which drew uproar on social media, prompted immediate action by police authorities.

The Nigerian Police Force issued a statement condemning the officer's behavior, underlining that such actions are unacceptable and violate police values.

"The Police Force does not tolerate any form of misconduct, especially actions that violate the rights and dignity of citizens," according to a statement.

As a result, the officer was demoted and faces more internal disciplinary action.

The Nigerian Police Force also assured the public that the incident would be thoroughly investigated and that appropriate measures would be taken to ensure justice.

This demotion serves as a reminder that police officers must always follow the law and act professionally.

The Nigerian Police Force has urged members of the public to report any type of misbehavior by officers in order to maintain accountability and protect the force's integrity.
