Yamin-led TAR Committee discovers V8 Land Cruisers sold to NPP bodyguards for GHc20k.

Dr. Joseph Yamin, National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has revealed that a Temporal Assets Recovery Committee (TAR) he chairs has discovered ongoing processes to sell state vehicles at a low cost to bodyguards and former administration officials.

"The NPP is selling automobiles to those around them. "The bodyguards and people around Akufo Addo are getting V8s for GHc20,000," he claimed on Ultimate FM's Cup of Tea.

"We went in to recover over 20 Land Cruisers in Accra," he told me.

Dr. Yamin stated that the Temporal Assets Recovery Unit has been institutionalised with a clear mandate to assist the police in finding and retrieving plundered assets.

"Today as I speak to you, all regional organisers are heads of this very taskforce established to ensure that people don't loot, steal and benefit from the state when they do not deserve it," he told the crowd.

Dr. Yamin claimed that he saw nothing wrong with witch-hunting, believing that witches needed to be chased and smoked out in order to stop causing evil on the people.

"If there are witches, they should be hunted. "Do you know what evil witches do, and do you believe that if they exist, they should not be hunted?" Yamin questioned host Julius Caesar Anadem.

"If we identify the witch; we will haunt the witch," roared him.

He recounted incidents in which the NPP's Bono Regional Chair Kwame Baffoe Abronye falsely accused a former appointee of the John Dramanai Mahama administration of purchasing one of the infamous Ghana at 50 BMWs for GHc4000 cedis, despite the fact that the appointee purchased the vehicle for GHc40,000 and paid GHc17, 000 in import duties to register it.

"The car was taken from him, and we still don't know where it is. "They didn't even return his money," he moaned.

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has formed a five-member Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee to coordinate information collecting on current government appointees who have unjustly plundered state assets.

When asked if the Temporary Asset Recovery Team was not a duplicate, Joseph Yamin stated that the task force was a voluntary and supporting group dedicated to working without compensation.
