At this point I am very certain that most Green students will be wondering what to do to eliminate idleness during the 3 months stay at home.

Being sluggish around this time is very common and we are to note, the devil finds work for the lazy person.

GhanaCrusader.com brings you 10 tips on what you can do to enjoy your vacation.

Improve vocabulary

Enrich your vocabulary as a student to achieve exam success by reading advanced English books and visiting vocabulary websites online.

Improve writing skills

Learn how to write better by reading English books or visiting online writing skills website to improve this skill for academic purposes and most importantly for future career success.

Read books in line with your course

The success of a student partly depends on how you thrive in the course that you offer. Therefore, the need to read books for this purpose is important in order to catch up with your colleagues when school resumes.

Learn a new skill

You could learn skills like public speaking, cooking or baking, drawing, self-defense, negotiation, listening and positive thinking. These in the long run could help provide another source of income and give you an upper hand in career achievement.

Help parents out with work

You could also keep yourself busy by aiding your parents with work, especially, if they are entrepreneurs or performing the house chore they normally do to ensure smooth running of the house. These could be weeding around the house, gardening, paying bills or running bank errands, just to mention a few.

Volunteer

Find a practical way to serve and contribute to your community. You could volunteer to clean up a beach, help nursery or primary teachers handle children, distill gutters in your area or offer to help the elderly. You could also arrange with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) to volunteer which would help with networking and enriching your CV as well.

Watch educational videos

Since you are already exposed to the internet, you might as well watch videos that would educate you as a student or add to your knowledge in relation to your course. This is not to limit the things you see but for your development as a student, this move is essential.

Improve physical health

This is a great opportunity to start sleeping well, exercising regularly and eating healthy in order to improve your health. Set exercise goals and attain higher milestones each day.

Work as an intern

Don’t worry too much about what the job will pay. As the saying goes, “Take a job for what you will learn, not for what you will earn.” This is especially true when it comes to school holiday jobs. The best learning experience might just come in the form of an unpaid internship.

Increase typing speed

This may not apply directly to being a student but could go a long way help you in the future. Acquire basic I.T skills and know your way around the computer during this period.
