Ejisu (Ashanti Region), 4 Nov., The Ejisu/Juaben District Town and Country Planning Department has assisted eleven communities in the district in the preparation of appropriate community lay-out schemes for enhancement of development in those areas. The communities are Ejisu, Krapa, Fumesua, Kyerekrom, Akyawkrom, Adadientem, Nobewan, Onwi, Domeabra and Besase. Mr Augustine Kusi, Ejisu/Juaben District Town and Country Planning Officer, disclosed this when he briefed the GNA at Ejisu on efforts his outfit was making to bring orderly development in the communities. He said currently, his outfit was assisting Juaben to prepare its planning scheme and gave the assurance that after Juaben, the office would turn its focus on helping Kwaso and Abankro. Mr Kusi observed that almost all the communities in the district that have lay-out schemes are along the Kumasi-Accra highway. He noted that the majority of communities without lay-out plans were those in the remote parts of the district which find it extremely difficult to raise the needed funds for preparation of base maps, which is a key requisite for undertaking planning schemes. Mr Kusi said this notwithstanding, the Town and Country Planning Office has intensified its education in various communities on the importance of working out lay-out schemes before undertaking any physical development.
