Former Executive Director of the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Prof Emmanuel Gyimah-Boadi has said although the appointment of 110 ministers by President Nana Akufo-Addo was “scandalous”, he will defer his judgment of whether they have been beneficial to Ghana, after the government’s four-year tenure ends.

“Well for some of us, the number 110 just sounded scandalous”, he told ’21 Minutes’, adding: “We felt scandalous that we could have this very very high numbers, but since the president says we have to watch the performance, it’s one of those areas that we have to watch”.

He told host Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng that: “In four years, we will get the chance, as a nation, to judge as to whether it has been worth having 110 ministers and others”, clarifying that: “I'm suggesting that there is an opportunity to make a judgement down the line, so, I will wait for that opportunity”.

Despite criticism against the size of his government, the largest in Ghana’s history, President Akufo-Addo has often defended his government, saying their performance will bear him out eventually.
