125 taxi drivers defect to NPP

Some 125 taxi drivers in the Tamale Metropolis have defected from the ruling National Democratic Congress to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying, they regret supporting the NDC.

Nyankonton Mu Nsem's Prince Kwame Tamakloe said the disappointed taxi drivers bemoaned the rampant increment of petroleum products, killer taxes, utility tariffs among other outrageous polices under President Mahama which they claimed is making life unbearable.

One major concern the drivers lamented over is the introduction of commercial buses which they explained is depriving them of their livelihood; as the commercial buses are charging very low fares making it difficult for residents to patronize their taxis.

According to the drivers, they are fed with the deceit and government's insincerity in making things easier for them. They posited that, the incompetence and mismanagement of the NDC government is unprecedented and only an NPP government led by Nana Akufo Addo can transform and change their misfortunes.

NDC members defects to NDP Some 200 members of the NDC in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency in the Ashanti Region last Sunday officially defected to the NDP and were introduced to the national officers of the party following a tour of the constituency by founder of the party, former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

The defected members who were introduced to the members of the party, said they were no longer happy about current happenings in the NDC, hence their decision to join the NDP whose founder is committed to the fight against corruption.
