The Ghana Police Service has arrested 13 suspects involved in a recruitment scam for the National Security office.

They allegedly charged the prospective recruits between GH¢50 and Gh¢150 per person.

Public Relations Officer for the Accra Regional Police Command ASP Afia Tenge told Citi FM Thursday that more than 300 people fell victim to the scam. The suspects were arrested at Taifa in Accra.

“On December 5, 2015 at about 7.30am the police received information that a group of people were recruiting for National Security at Taifa Burkina. The police proceeded to the scene at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church Park and met about 325 people undergoing physical training for the national security,” ASP Tenge said.

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspects Godson Kwame Duhu, a former national security operative, and also a self-styled national coordinator of an unregistered Afrigan Fidel Suricom, collected between Gh¢50 and Gh¢150 each from some of the victims under the pretext of helping them to be enlisted into the security services.”

The suspects are being tried for fraud.
